Bra: Thousand Years Of Everyday Wear

For thousands of years, women around the world in a way or another, try to hide, highlight, lift and shape their bust. In ancient Egypt was most often topless or wearing a tunic with a bandeau-like fabric over the breasts. Previous studies of paintings from ancient Greece was shown that the Cretan women meant something akin to contemporary bikini during sporting activities. Regardless of how and what to bar across the bust can be concluded that women for thousands of years had a need for a garment that supports the bust.

The Corset

During the 1300s / 1400s the corset was the obvious fashion choice for the future of women. The bust was lifted up while everything else would be held up. It made various corsets for different occasions and they were sufficiently well-off could afford to own several different models adapted for different uses. Which eased somewhat unprecedented for a woman’s mobility. During the Renaissance 1500s consisted of the corset taut linen fabric with a simple button front. The models were developed afterwards and he put the iron bars as support in the back and the sides. The waist should be minimized and the bust highlighted. The ideal was a flat chest where the bust, as a result, climbed upwards. The corset was a very important fashion items and not to wear the corset was not conceivable that woman. Unfortunately, these corsets are not particularly gentle on the internal organs like sports bra, they were uncomfortable and also made to the woman’s movement ability drastically reduced.

Disposal And Return

As with all clothing worn through the years as the bra, corset and topless option is a reflection of the ideals. When the Napoleonic War broke out and the French Revolution came in 1789 abolished the corset large power France, which is a natural part of the liberation from the aristocracy. It did not take very many years corset to find its way back into vogue, and already in 1814 the woman began again wearing corset. 1889 tired loin Hermine Cadolle on how the breast was flattened and waist bra. She sat down with a needle and thread and made a set consisting of an upper and a lower section where the breasts were a natural support and waist less stuffy feeling. The garment was displayed at the Great Exhibition but it took until 1905 before Cadolle came up with the idea to sell the portion separately.1913 Cadolle opened up a store in Paris on Rue bra, where she sold their own patented breast holder. The shop is still today remains at the same address and is run by the fifth generation bra.

Active Lifestyle

The fact that the women in the late 1800s and early 1900s began to turn itself more and more as the corset was adapted accordingly. The corset was more like a girdle and climbed down while a separate section covering the bust. If the Napoleonic War and the French Revolution was the reason that the corset was abolished in the late 1700s, it was the First World War and the unhealthy effects revealed, the two major reasons that the bra began to disappear from the fashion during the early 1900s. It had now become impossible to ignore the negative health effects as it meant wearing a tightly laced corset and early 1900s feminists began to pressure to change fashions. The courage of the early 1900s advocated a long tapered silhouette with flattened the bust and women with fuller bust had difficulty finding a suitable bra. Who actually was the author of the first bra is unclear. At the turn of patented several people of different models that became the foreground of our modern bra today.
